What Makes It Different

One Extra Foot of Height

The "high cube" designation means the container is one foot taller than a standard ISO shipping container, also known as a conex box. That takes the exterior from 8 ft 6 in to 9 ft 6 in, and the usable interior ceiling from 7 ft 10 in to 8 ft 10 in. Available in several grades, including used wind and water tight (WWT) and one-trip. See our condition guide for the differences.

That extra foot can help with overhead storage, lighting, and equipment, but finishes and insulation reduce the final headroom.

Use Cases

Ways to Use a High Cube in Pennsylvania

Pallet racking for the distribution yards along Interstate 78, Interstate 81 and Pennsylvania 33, where the extra foot of height can fit another level of racking.

Any build you intend to insulate and finish, which matters more in Pennsylvania than in a warm state, because the code's prescriptive numbers here are R-30 in a wall and R-60 in a ceiling and every inch of that is headroom you do not get back.

Powdered metal, precision machining and tooling shops around St. Marys, Ridgway and Johnsonburg storing dies, fixtures and raw powder drums off the plant floor.

Cement, aggregate and quarry operations through the Lehigh Valley, Berks County and the Cumberland Valley keeping screens, belting and parts close to the pit rather than back at a central shop.

Food and snack manufacturers around Hanover, York, Hershey and Lititz staging seasonal packaging, pallets and promotional stock upright rather than flat.

FAQ

High Cube Container Questions

The footprint is identical, and the high cube is one foot taller.
It changes the overhead, not the ground. The run is still 130 feet of straight, level approach, but the truck carries the box a foot higher. The site still needs at least 15 feet of height for the truck to drive in and 22 feet of height along the entire unloading path. Low limbs and service drops are worth identifying before delivery.
The high cube is quoted separately from the standard 40ft, so ask for its price for your address. For comparison, Wind and Water Tight standard 40ft units start at $2,491 delivered in Philadelphia. Container One sets prices, and they change without notice; your written quote gives the price for your order, including delivery to your address. Prices as of 2026-08-06.
Warranty runs by grade: one-trip units carry a 10 year structural and 10 year no-leak warranty, cargo worthy and wind and water tight units carry a 5 year structural and 5 year no-leak warranty, and economy units carry a 1 year roof leak warranty.
